The focus of the scheme is on entrepreneurship development and breed improvement in poultry, sheep, goat and piggery including feed and fodder development.The sub-mission proposes to bring sharp focus on entrepreneurship development and breed improvement in poultry, sheep, goat and piggery by providing the incentivization to the individual, FPOs, SHGs, Section 8 companies for entrepreneurship development and also to the State Government for breed improvement infrastructure.
The NPBBDD has been formulated by merging four ongoing schemes of the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries in the dairy sector. These are the National Project for Cattle and Buffalo Breeding (NPCBB), Intensive Dairy Development Programme (IDDP), Strengthening Infrastructure for Quality and Clean Milk Production (SIQ and CMP) and assistance to cooperatives. This has been done to integrate milk production and dairying activities in a scientific and holistic manner for attaining higher levels of milk production and productivity, to meet the increasing demand for milk in the country.
The NPDD scheme aims to enhance quality of milk and milk products and increase share of organized milk procurement. The scheme has two components and focuses towards creating/strengthening of infrastructure for quality milk testing equipment as well as primary chilling facilities for State Cooperative Dairy Federations
Increased fertility rate: The programme will help to increase the fertility rate by providing access to artificial insemination services. This will help to improve the fertility rate of cows, buffaloes, goats and sheep in the state. Improved quality of livestock: The programme will help to improve the quality of livestock through the use of improved semen from superior bulls. This will help to improve the production of milk and meat as well as the quality of the animals.
Government of Maharashtra(India). Purpose of this scheme is to promote small Goat Farming among.It has a backend subsidy 50% for General and 75% for scheduled caste and scheduled tribes. Implementing office is District Deputy Commissioner Animal Husbandry. Selection is done by a Committee under the chairmanship of the Collector.
To Provide socio-economic security to the livestock owners of the State, a Risk Management scheme “Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Samoohik Pashudhan Beema Yojna” has been launched in the State in a Mission Mode on the payment of lowest rates of insurance premium @ Rs. 100/- for each large animal up to 5 animals per beneficiary and Rs. 25/- for each small animal for one year and the remaining part of the premium is being paid by the Government. In the case of scheduled caste beneficiaries, the insurance premium of their livestock is 100% free and will be borne by the Govt.
Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Unnat Krishi Shiksha Yojana was launched in the year 2016 with the object of promoting agricultural education in terms of cow-based economy, natural farming and organic farming. The initiative is envisioned to transform rural development processes by partnering with knowledge institutions. It is an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and is implemented by the Education wing of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
Backended subsidy of 33% to farmers belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes and 25% to other small and marginal farmers will be provided to establish cattle, Short term loans upto Rs.50,000/- at 0% interest will be provided through Co-operative Banks, on the lines of crop loan, for providing cattle feed/other maintenance expenditure.

Peste-des- Petis Ruminants (PPR) is disease causes huge losses to rural economy. To control this disease PPR-CP is launched and vaccination of all the sheep and goat of the state is being undertaken. A single dose of the vaccine can confer protection to the animal for about 4 years. Therefore annual vaccination needs to be done only for the new generation of the population.
Under its Sub-Mission on Breed Development of Livestock and Poultry, the NLM is giving a subsidy up to 50% (limited to Rs 30 lakh) of the capital cost to entrepreneurs for taking up piggery. The scheme was implemented across India in the 2021-22 financial year.
The approved unit cost for the Piggery unit is Rs.1,97,500/- (Rupees One Lac Ninety Seven Thousand Five Hundred only) of which Rs.49,375/- (Rupees Forty Nine Thousand three Hundred and Seventy five only) shall be the subsidy component. The maximum subsidy admissible is 25% of the unit cost
This is the only institute for production of animal vaccines for the State. The main objective of the Institute is to undertake the work of production/purchase of vaccine to provide health protection cover to the animals of Jharkhand. It is a State level institute for vaccines production and animal disease diagnosis. The Institute also takes steps from time to time for identification of the disease and for the control of various pathogenic and infectious diseases. Under the scheme, development of laboratory, achievement of target of vaccine production/equipping of office is to be done.
"Under this program, the government encourages the general populace to conserve cow shelters and provides basic supplementary facilities for such shelters in order to make them economically viable.
Under this initiative, any resident of the state can adopt cattle by paying rupees 11,000 per animal at any cow shelter participating in the Punyakoti Adoption Portal."
